Make Sure the Summer Fun Lasts
Make Sure the Summer Fun Lasts…All Summer
Once your pool is set up, proper care and maintenance will not only ensure that the water remains clean and safe for swimming, but also prolong the life of the pool. One of the best ways to ensure another season of your pool is to clean it properly.
These are the tools we deem essential to keeping your pool clean:
- Pool Net – A good pool net is essential for removing leaves, insects, dirt or any other floating debris
- Pool Vacuum – In addition to cleaning the top of your pool, it is equally important to clean the bottom. While you can try to use your pool net, it may not remove 100% of the dirt, sand and silt that tends to accumulate at the bottom of pools
- Pool Brushes – Pool brushes will help to keep the interior of the pool clear of any dirt
- Chlorine Tablets – Chlorine tablets will help kill bacteria and prevent algae buildup. They can also help to balance the pH level in your water.
Once you have your tools, below is a guide to proper maintenance of your pool to ensure it is clean, clear and safe for swimming.
- Remove debris from the top of your pool with your net
- Use the vacuum to remove debris from the bottom of the pool
- Brush the interior of your pool
- Test the chlorine and pH levels with test strips at least once a week. Chlorine helps to keep the water clean and clear while pH levels dictate how the water feels, as too acidic water can cause skin irritation. To control pH levels, add acids and alkalis as needed
- Change your pool filter every two weeks
- Check for air and water leaks once a week or after heavy use
- Use a pool cover to shield your pool from debris when it is not in use
